The site of the “May 1” stadium in Slobozia is advancing. The works started for almost two months and progresses according to the chart.
Lie Lemnaru, the president of the Union Slobozia, announced when he will be able to train the Ialomita to train and play on the local arena.
The modernized stadium will benefit from a new, hybrid lawn, a tartan runway, 5 color and length of 400 meters, drainage system, automatic irrigation and electric heating.

“Important steps have already been taken towards the renovation and modernization of the” May 1 “stadium in Slobozia, as the project is called. The lawn was completely discovered, after which the drainage system was made. About 20 ditches were executed, which were filled with material, stone, necessary for wiring and drainage system.
The ditches for the main electric panel will be dug now, after which the heating system will begin. And somewhere in the middle of August it is desired to be completed in the already arranged area, and towards the end of the month September is expected to be able to perform the first stadium training”, Stressed the president of the Union Slobozia.
The actual work started with a 10-month delay
The initial planning provided for the start of the works since August 2024, with an estimated budget at about 8 million lei (the equivalent of about 1.6 million euros). But the works started only on May 30, 2025, with a delay of almost 10 months. Currently, it is estimated that the stadium will host Liga 1 matches in autumn, “at the latest in November”.
“The nearly 10 months of delay were due to that appeal, but, considering that in other cities larger than Slobozia, the works lasted a long time, around 2-3 years for other teams, we can say that we were a little lucky. God helped us to complete what was to be done at the stadium, to get the necessary to evolve. It will definitely be a big plus in the fight for keeping in Liga 1. So in the fall we will see what follows in Slobozia.
Until you return home, the Ialomițeni will continue to play on the stadium in Clinceni.
