On Monday, Maciej Hunia submitted letters to the President of Israel, Isaak Herzog, and was formally accredited as the ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Israel. – We've been waiting for it for a long time. We are particularly happy after four years … – said Herzog, welcoming Hunia.
The newspaper in a positive tone describes that during the meeting Hunia and Herzog talked about the common history of Jews and Poles and about the fact that they both met many survivors from the Holocaust “in the case of Hunia, this also concerned the non -Jewish survivors” – emphasizes “Jerusalem Post”.
In reference to the current war waged by Israel Hunia, he said that he visited Kibbut Kfar Aza, where during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, about 90 people were killed, and met with residents who survived the massacre.

Herzog, who visited Poland many times, noticed that they were always visits of a commemorative nature, and expressed the desire to come to events related to cooperation between the two countries.
He also mentioned that his father, the first president of Israel, who visited Poland – Chaim Herzog – visited Łomża, where his grandfather was born.
