A new wave of heat strikes Romania. Where 40 degrees will be recorded

On Monday, July 21, Romania is facing a new episode of extreme heat. ANM has issued several weather warnings, including an orange code for several counties.

A new wave of heat is installed on Monday in Romania, according to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM). The southwest half of the country will be affected by heat temperatures and accentuated thermal discomfort, while the rest of the regions will feel a very hot weather.

Meteorologists announce maximum temperatures between 29 and 39 degrees Celsius, and the minimums will vary between 9 and 24 degrees. The nights will be tropical in the south and south-east, locally in the west and isolated in the other regions, with values that will not go down below 20 degrees.

The sky will be variable, with clouds, showers and electric shocks in the mountain areas and isolated in the north and center, especially in the evening and at night. The wind will have short -term intensifications during rains. In the morning and night there are possible fog conditions in the intramontane depressions and in Moldova. The atmospheric pressure will be maintained in the context of a cyclonic field.

In the capital, Monday is suffocating. Meteorologists warn that the weather will become hot, and the thermal discomfort will be accentuated. The temperature-humidity index (ITU) will easily exceed the critical threshold of 80 units, indicating an increased risk associated with high temperatures.

The maximum temperature will reach 36-37 degrees, and the minimum one during the night will be between 19 and 22 degrees. The sky will be variable, and the wind will be weak to moderate.

At the seaside, Monday brings a very hot weather with high thermal discomfort. The sky will be more clear, and the wind will be weak and moderate, with some temporary intensifications during the day. The maximum temperatures will reach 29-31 degrees, and the minimum ones at 22-24 degrees. The temperature of the sea water will be between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Unstable weather at the mountain

In the mountain, the temperatures will be higher than the previous day. The weather will be warm, but unstable in the second part of the day. The sky will become temporarily cloudy and showers, electric discharges and wind intensifications will appear, especially in the afternoon and at night in the western and north-western massifs.

ANM has issued warnings of type orange and yellow code, valid from Monday, July 21, 10:00, until Tuesday, July 22, at 10:00.

Caraș-Severin, Mehedinți, Dolj, Olt and Teleorman counties will be affected. In these areas, an intense heat wave with maximums between 37 and 40 degrees and minimums between 19 and 23 degrees will be manifested. It will be heat, accentuated thermal discomfort, and the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units, warns ANM.

Yellow code of high temperatures

The warning is valid for the north of Banat, Crișana, southwest of Transylvania, northern Oltenia, most of Muntenia and southwest Dobrogea. Here, the temperatures will reach 34-37 degrees, and the minimums will be between 17 and 21 degrees. ANM states that the temperature-humidity index will reach or exceed the critical threshold of 80 units, and in many areas there will be tropical nights.

Meteorologists recommend the population to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun in peak hours and to hydrate properly.
