Two deputies from the State Duma Committee on Information Policy said that WhatsApp would stop working in the Russian Federation. It is reported by TASS.

The first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Inform Policy Anton Goryekin said that the messenger should begin to prepare for leaving the Russian market, since he will with “high probability” will fall under restrictive measures. This is due to the fact that WhatsApp belongs to the extremist and prohibited by the country META.

A member of the same State Duma Committee Anton Nemkin noted that the presence of the messenger in the country “is a gap in the national security of Russia”, therefore it is included in the list of programs from unfriendly jurisdictions is a matter of time. The parliamentarian suggests that the Max National Messenger will be able to take the WhatsApp place.

Note, earlier President Vladimir Putin instructed the Cabinet to think about additional restrictions on the use of software from unfriendly countries.
