Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said, in an interview for the Krónika portal online, that he wants to talk to the new president of Romania as soon as possible, reports MTI and News.ro.

Viktor Orbán, located in Târgu Mureş to participate in the funeral of the lawyer and civil rights activist, Előd Kincses, said he wants to discuss as soon as possible with Nicușor Dan, as there are common topics within the European Union, and the interests of Romanians and Maghiar coincides.

“In economic issues, in military matters, in the issue of war and peace, and I would like to see more clearly what is the position of the President of Romania in these issues.” explained Viktor Orban in the interview with Krónika online.

The Hungarian prime minister stressed that there are favorable conditions for the development of bilateral relations, because the Hungarian Presidency of the EU Council, ended last year in December, represented a historical achievement for Romania, entering Schengen – aspect recognized by the Romanian side.

The head of the Budapest Executive added that in Bucharest it is known how complicated European political maneuvers were for Romania to be admitted to Schengen. He stressed, however, that Romania was worth being in the European free circulation space.

“I can see that we have good will and desire for cooperation. We do not start from the wrong foot, then we will see. However, I do not envy this government, because the inheritance it has taken is a difficult one, especially from an economic point of view,” said Viktor Orbán.

“They will need all their knowledge for the citizens of Romania to pass as few losses through this difficult period. They keep their fists,” added the Hungarian leader.
