The headquarters and seven plants of the company operating so far as separate organizational units from August 1 this year. They will act as one employer – said PKP Cargo on Tuesday. This will increase the company's efficiency and competitiveness.


“The Management Board of PKP Cargo SA in restructuring adopted a resolution on implementing new organizational regulations, which was the result of social consultations ended last week. The regulations unify the structure, consolidates and integrates all processes, including the management of the company. Changes will come into force from August 1, 2025. From that day, both the headquarters and seven plants of the companies operating so far as separate organizational units will act as one employer – PKP Cargo SA in restructuring” – the company informed in a statement.
As explained by the president of PKP Cargo, Agnieszka Wasilewska-Semail, cited in the publication, the integrating of the PKP Cargo structure will increase the company's effectiveness and faster adaptation and “flexibility in responding to changing market conditions”. It will also contribute to achieving better business results by maximizing the use of resources, shortening the time of implementation of tasks and more effective exchange of information and making decisions.
We are starting to implement the process of organizational changes mainly to improve the quality of our services, reduce costs and thus increase the competitive advantage of our company on the freight market of transport by rail – said Wasilewska -Semail.
The company added, the implementation of a new organizational model will not only allow increase operational efficiency, but also ensure a more transparent and coherent work environment For all employees who work in one company, they have different employers. She admitted that currently some of the tasks are reproduced or their implementation is blocking bureaucracy.
PKP Cargo also reminded that the first consolidation activities have been implemented since September 2024 and until now they concerned trade offices, motor and maintenance resources and IT structures.
“Thanks to the effectively implemented changes in the unification of all operating, cost or staffing processes, the company will gain greater efficiency, and the end recipient, i.e. the client and employees, will benefit from this. The market position of PKP Cargo will strengthen the same effectiveness and ability to respond to market requirements, and for employees the method of managing the company will become more transparent” – the company indicated.
In July 2024, the court opened the restructuring proceedings of PKP Cargo. Originally, PKP Cargo was to present a restructuring plan by the end of February 2024, but on February 27, the Company announced that the manager of the sanation mass of PKP Cargo submitted to the court an application for extension by 30 June 2025 the deadline to draw up the company's restructuring plan.
The company's management board in July last year He decided to carry out group layoffs by the company's plants and headquarters. The effect of this process was to reduce employment by 3665 employees. Currently, PKP Cargo employs approx. 10,000 people. At the beginning of June this year. PKP Cargo has once again announced that it intends to carry out group layoffs. This time the dismissals would be covered by up to 1041 employees in 2025 and until 1388 in 2026.
However, at the end of June, the management of PKP Cargo proposed to employees a waiver of some privileges resulting from the company collective labor agreement and replacing them with a motivational system based on work efficiency. The goal is to avoid group layoffs.
The PKP Cargo group offers logistics services, combining rail, car and sea transport. It is evidenced by independent freight transport in Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Hungary, Lithuania and Slovenia.
