I was in the heart of Action stores. One thing amazed me

The Action network already has over 3,000 shops all over Europe. This is one of the few commercial brands that quickly gained popularity on the Old Continent. The company itself explains the success with low prices, but also quickly refreshing the range in stores. Representatives of the network emphasize that this would not have been possible were it not for modern distribution centers.
There are currently 16 of them throughout the continent. shops. There are already three in Poland, soon another – in Szczecin. This is to happen probably in the second half of the year.
How the Action Distribution Center works
The latest center of the network is Illescas in Spain – near Madrid. It has almost 59 thousand sq m – and is to create up to 440 jobs in the region. Ultimately, the center in Illescas is to serve 210 Action stores in Spain, but even in Portugal. However, the second Spanish network center is being created – near Barcelona.
One thing is striking inside the center. People – there are a lot of them in the facility. Meanwhile, the warehouse and logistics industry often focuses on autonomous solutions recently – so more and more often people are replaced by robots. Why is it not happening in Action magazines? As we hear on the spot, it is not that the company excludes such investments. For now, however, she focuses on people of flesh and blood, because they mean the greatest flexibility for her. The point is that the range in stores often changes – and it is quite diverse. As Action representatives assure, so far people are better than robots with distributing this assortment.
The network derived from the Netherlands, however, emphasizes that even if it does not buy robots for a warehouse, it tries to focus on new technologies. For example, on a modern communication system between employees of the distribution center, thanks to which they know immediately where what is missing – and where, for example, a forklift should be done.

Another reason is that – as the company assures – ecology is a priority for her, and not necessarily such issues as magazine automation. So the company does a lot to reduce the amount of plastic in packaging or promotes ecological materials.
But Action also emphasizes that ecological investments can also be seen in distribution centers. The object in Illescas is the first to be powered only with “green energy” – it has, among others Solar panels for heating water, photovoltaic panels for generating electricity, intelligent energy and water meters or LED lighting in the building. Action representatives also emphasize that it was focused on providing as much daylight as possible to the warehouse – and this allows you to reduce electricity.
Another interesting solution is the “two -story” Action truck semi -trailer. In contrast, most such vehicles, Action semi -trailers have two levels – thanks to which they can accommodate more goods – and this reduces costs, but also positively affects the environment.

The head of Action Hajir Hajji assures that the network does not intend to slow down – and that she wants to open a new store every day. This will not be without expansion in new countries. Soon stores are to start in Romania, then also in Slovenia and Croatia.
– We have a fairly simple offer structure. 90 percent the products are the same in every country. This simplifies shopping and logistics – and provides low prices. 2/3 of our range can be bought for less than 2 euros. The popularity is also that we change the range quickly. We deliver 150 new products every week, so the offer changes quickly. The answer to the question, where does we have such low prices, but it is quite simple: we simply buy goods in very large quantities. However, if we see that a product cannot be sold at a very low price, we simply give up selling it – Hajir Hajji said in an interview with Business Insider Polska.
