The two leaders on Thursday had a telephone call in which they condemned Israel for Iran attacks and agreed that a situation is required, Kremlin said, Reuters reported.

The Russian president and his Chinese counterpart “firmly condemns the actions of Israel, who violate the UN Charter and other norms of international law,” said Yuri Usakov reporters, Kremlin counselor.

“Both Moscow and Beijing strongly believe that there is no military solution to the current situation and problems related to Iran's nuclear program. This solution must be found exclusively by political and diplomatic means,” said Usakov.

Russia warned that a catastrophe could take place if the conflict between Israel and Iran, on the seventh day, will intensify and urged the United States not to join Israeli bombings.

Putin has been in contact with US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in recent days and has repeatedly stated that Russia is ready to mediate between belligerent parts. So far, no one has accepted the offer from Moscow.

On Thursday, Putin reiterated this proposal in the telephone call with XI, a close ally.

The Chinese leader expressed his support for this idea, said Usakov, “because he believes he could contribute to the current acute situation.”

The two agreed to keep a close connection in the following days.
