Prime Minister: If we would not judge the winning candidate, his win should be considered

Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated on Monday in his post -election speech that he would soon ask the Sejm to see a vote of confidence in the government. He added that the government would cooperate with the new president wherever necessary and possible.

On Monday morning, the electoral commission announced the official results of Sunday voting in the presidential election. Karol Nawrocki obtained 10 million 606 thousand 877 votes (50.89 percent), while Rafał Trzaskowski 10 million 237 thousand 286 votes (49.11 percent). The attendance amounted to 71.63 percent
“Presidential elections are behind us. There have been no such great emotions for a long time. I would like to thank you all for participating in voting. Over 20 million Poles chose the new President of the Republic of Poland, showing their strong attachment to democracy and its key principle, i.e. free and universal choices,” said the prime minister in their first speech after the announcement of the election results.
The Prime Minister will ask the Sejm to a vote of confidence in the government
The head of government emphasized that the government's action plan with the new president “will require unity and courage from the entire coalition on October 15”.
“The first test will be a vote of confidencewhich I will ask the Sejm in the near future, “said the prime minister.
He explained that he wants “everyone to see, also our opponents, in the country and abroad, that we are ready for this situation, that we understand the seriousness of the moment, but that we do not intend to take a step back.”
Tusk: Karol Nawrocki should be recognized and congratulations to his voters
The Prime Minister also said that “as we would not judge the winning candidate, His winnings should be recognized and congratulations to his voters“” What I do here, “he noted. The Prime Minister also thanked Ko Rafał Trzaskowski's candidate “For determination and fight to the end for every vote.”
He declared that he would not stop “for a moment, as the prime minister of the Polish government in his work and in our joint struggle for Poland, which we dreamed of at the threshold of independence – free, sovereign, safe and prosperous.” “Presidential elections have not changed anything here and will not change,” emphasized Tusk.
“The emergency plan, assuming a difficult cohabitation, is prepared”
“I am aware that it may be more difficult than many of you thought when you vote yesterday. But this does not change the least of my determination and the will to defend everything we believe together,” said Tusk. As he said, “an emergency plan, assuming a difficult cohabitation, is prepared.” The prime minister admitted that it is difficult to assume in advance what the attitude of the new president will be. He declared, however, that if he showed a desire to cooperate, “this would be a positive surprise to which the government will answer with full openness“.
“If not, there is nothing to wait for. regardless of the circumstancesbecause we were chosen, “emphasized the head of government.
The prime minister said that the government would submit ready bills, but if it is necessary, “He will rule and make decisions, also with the president trying to block good changes“” We already have experience, “he added.
“There is too much to do. Starting from international matters, building a powerful army and a strong economy, repolonization of industry, through social security and state services, up to settlements and the fight against crime,” the head of government emphasized.
The prime minister also turned to everyone who voted for Ko Rafał Trzaskowski's candidate. “We're going further,” he said. “I know how you feel, but remember – we arranged a great thing, requiring strength, perseverance and maybe more time than we would like. In democracy, the fight never ends” – he emphasized. “I believe in you, I believe in Poland,” added Tusk.
A vote of confidence for the government. Donald Tusk reached for them before
After a vote of confidence in the government as an instrument confirming the support of Prime Minister Donald Tusk, he reached twice – in 2012 and 2014. He will now use it for the third time.
According to the constitution, within 14 days of the president's appointment by the President, the Prime Minister presents the program of the Council of Ministers to the Sejm with a request to grant it a vote of trust. The vote of trust, the Sejm adopts an absolute majority of votes in the presence of at least half of the statutory number of deputies.
The prime minister may also ask the Sejm to express a vote of trust to the Council of Ministers at any time of his office. The vote of trust then occurs on slightly different principles, because the usual majority of votes in the presence of at least half of the statutory number of deputies. The lack of support from the Sejm for the application for a vote of trust obliges the prime minister to resign for the president.
For such a conclusion, Prime Minister Donald Tusk was already reached twice. It happened first in October 2012i.e. almost a year after the appointment of the Council of Ministers – then he gave the so -called Second expose. “I want (…) after a year not easy to pass a very short report on what we have done this year,” he explained, arguing that his speech and a vote of trust is not a “political fireworks”.
Once again, there was a vote on the application for a vote of trust In June 2014, after the outbreak of the so -called eavesdropping scandal initiated by the publication of transcripts from the overheard conversations ruling politicians at the time, including The head of the Ministry of Interior Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz and the Minister of Transport Sławomir Nowak. The application submitted by the Prime Minister at that time overtook the vote of no confidence submitted by PiS, and Tusk began his speech from an apology regarding “inappropriate words” that were said on the recordings.
To the prime minister's idea, even before he was officially announced, he referred, among others Polish head 2050 Szymon Hołownia, who at a conference in the Sejm assessed him as “Bad” and “Theater” gesture. “Today there is no problem with the legitimacy of the government in this Chamber. This government has a majority in the Chamber. However, if we want to show that we understood something from what happened, then we must first develop a new opening and come to people with a work plan,” he said. (PAP)
