The bitter experience of the people left unemployed close to the pension: “I worked 10 years with a two and four -hour contract, without knowing” reportage
In a sea of ”people looking for a job” coming to the Slatina job stock exchange, especially to get their visa on the unemployed book, several unemployed people over 50 tell their experience. They are among the few who do not be satisfied with the small allowance, but they have no solutions.

They are over 50-55 years old, some only separate them to retirement, and have reached unemployment, experience that they had several times in active life. They do not want to stay at home with the unemployment allowance, which are between 900 and 1,100 lei, depending on the period worked and why they had, because I understand better than anyone that means to approach the pension and the seniority will not gather. Only he would like that after so many years of work “in faith” he will receive the respect he offers.

They worked in the pastry-confectionery field until the unit closed, and another lady became unemployed when the store she worked on on the market and was also abolished.
The discussion is quickly on the plateau in front of the Youth House in Slatina. It stands in a row to enter the space for the meeting with the employers. The space is not very generous, there are many participants, so the wait lasts tens of minutes. Those who do not really seek to engage are relatively fast, happy, holding the notes with whom they can subsequently present themselves (they are unemployed who have the obligation to target their unemployment book at the Public Employment Service). The ladies and gentlemen we are talking about now put on real hopes in this event, after they have knocked on the doors.
“There are places where they are constantly hiring. There is clear something wrong.”

“That's to write! No one asks you what you know how to do, it doesn't interest anyone as much as you can, nothing is interested, but formalities, exactly what is happening here ”, The discussion is a little hot.
“I went to the interview. 12 with 24, non-stop, without any free, never. And I say – the salary? 3,000 lei. Well, the minimum wage is 2,600 in hand, right? I work for you 90 extra hours and give me 400 lei. That means taking the bed at home and moving to you to the company. And has 22 employees who work like that. A lady tells that she worked 21 years in a garment company. Overtime was the rule, not the exception. Always work “to finish the order”, without the employees being paid additionally or the respective hours being highlighted in the company's documents. When various institutions came in control the employees were prepared before not saying anything about the prolonged program, lack of holidays and weekly rest days or other irregularities. “That's right, you can't do anything alone. No one recognized, for fear of not being left without that job. It's four years since the company was abolished and no one has taken any money to recover. I would like to convey to the employers to think well if age is a good criterion when they choose their employees. I don't think young people know how much we know, I don't think they are willing to stay and when it's hard. We did it and we do it ”, says another lady.

Still waiting to enter and see the offer of employers are some men made available from a farm in Scornicești. They are all 55 years old and even wonder where they could find another job, because for the site, for example, they no longer feel. “I have a qualification, I took courses while working in Bucharest, I would like to see if I find something at any photovoltaic company. I have done, but in Bucharest the owners are different. I told them that they went to the course and they agree. Another unemployment says he has a few months until he is the standard retirement age, but he will continue to work if he finds something convenient. “I have a qualification of processor by cutting, cook-barman-boss, security agent and for monitoring the operative center. says the man.
Although he worked almost without interruption, he is only 25 years old for the pension, he found out now, when he approaches his file. “” I worked for 10 years at an employer from Scornicești, two hours and four hours in the contract, when I stayed over eight hours. I did not make loans to the bank to see what was there, I was not sick to take a certificate … so I did not know what was in the contract. A sum of money, we also received a bonus for three months. says the man.
Slowly, slowly take courage and the other unemployed. I say how they have worked so far, when they approach the pension, on the minimum wage, how they accepted to be paid in black and how wrong it seems to them now, when I see that for establishing the pension rights it is not one if you have contributed to the minimum wage value or the amounts were much higher. “Do you know something? They are right and the patrons when I say they cannot give them a high salary from the beginning, that I know nothing, but to keep people until the minimum.explains another unemployed as continued to accept informal payments over the minimum wage and other abnormalities not allowed by the legislation and not detected by the institutions with control.
Throughout the country, at the employment scholarships organized on Friday by the county employment agencies, 1,878 employers, who offered 31,087 jobs (92 dedicated to young people with social marginalization) participated. The number of participants in search of a job was even lower than the number of jobs offered – 29,961 (of which 423 young people at risk of marginalization). 8,723 people were selected for employment, most people in Bucharest -582, Iași – 504, Olt – 446, Hunedoara – 443, Dâmbovița – 411.
Most jobs offered were those for people without higher education, from areas such as: security and protection – 1,604 places, constructions and restaurants – over 900 each etc.
The general scholarship of the jobs organized on May 23, 2025 was held in 67 localities in the country.
