Ploiești Oil announced the separation of coach Mehmet Topal, 39 years old. The Turk did not want to continue on the “wolf” bench further from the end of this season.
Oil started the season with Mehmet Topal Coach. The Turk had a “screen” on the Alagic Sanjin Bosnian, considering that Topal does not hold the license necessary for the “main” position in the superliger.
Topal left Oil in December 2024, but no 3 months later was convinced to return to the Ploieșteni Bank, vacated by Adrian Mutu.
In March, Topal and Oil signed a contract valid for two months, with an extension option. The Ploiesti wanted to activate the clause, but the Turkish coach opposed the continuation.

The separation was formalized today, through a statement issued by the club:
“Ploiești Petrol thanks Mehmet Topal for the entire activity done during this season. A collaboration that we would have liked to take further, but unfortunately, our common path stops, for now, here.
We transmit, in this way, all our appreciation to Mehmet Topal and we assure him that he will be, at any time, welcome in Ploiești! ”.
In this second term, Topal registered a balance of 3 victories, two draws and 3 defeats. In the first term, the line had been 8 victories, 11 draws, 5 failures.
Oil ended the season in 3rd place in the play-out, 9th place as a whole.
At the return of March, Topal was disappointed that the team did not qualify in the play-off, although he had left her in a promising position to achieve the goal.
The play-off was missed under the command of Adrian Mutu, who brought only two wins in 10 matches.
For next season I did not discuss too much. I only came until the summer, I discussed. It wouldn't be fair to tell you what it might be. We are focused to finish in the 7th place. As everyone knows, the team was not fine, the situation was difficult.
The first part of the season started difficult, but I ended it. Then, I left, I returned … I made a contract only until the end of the season, the rest, we talk.
