“All pressure is now on Putin, he was in trouble. Ukraine (unlike Russia – editor's note) sent a delegation to Turkey to negotiate a suspension of a weapon” Rutte told journalists before starting the meeting in the capital of Albania.
The head of NATO also noted that he appreciates the involvement of the United States in the negotiating process. “President (USA) Donald Trump broke stagnation, adopted a leading role and it is really important,” he said.
Conversations in Istanbul without Putin
On the same day, talks began in Istanbul between US, Ukraine and Turkey delegations regarding the possibility of ending the war in Ukraine. There is another three -way meeting – with the participation of Ukraine, Russia and Turkey.
Initially, Istanbul talks were considered potentially groundbreaking for the end of the conflict. Enthusiasm, however, weakened when it became clear that – unlike the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelnski – neither Vladimir Putin nor President Trump appeared on the spot.
The European political community was established in May 2022 as a platform for intergovernmental cooperation of European countries. It was created in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The initiator of the EPC was the President of France Emmanuel Macron, who in the speech in the European Parliament proposed to create a “new European organization, giving democratic European nations space to cooperate in the fields of security and economic cooperation, including energy, investment or infrastructure.”
