In the national park “Krasnoyarsk Pillars”, a poultry – Udoda, rare for the edge, photographed.
The meeting was shot on May 14 on the cordon Dolgush of the Basa forestry by the local inspector Pavel Meshkov. The press service explained that the bird prefers steppes and southern mountains and winter in Africa and Southeast Asia.
The methodologist of the ecological education department, Nadezhda Goncharova, explained that the reports of Udoda nesting in the forest zone are extremely rare, although it is possible: “It was symbolic that for the first time in our protected territory, Udod was met exactly 100 years ago, in 1925, an ornithologist Innocent Nikolayevich Shukhov in the Manna River basin. Then he qualified as an accidentally flying look. Currently, the bird, although it refers to nesting, is still a very rare phenomenon on the “Krasnoyarsk pillars”. We see Udoda far from every year and not even every decade. ”
Udod is a very beautiful and unusual bird. She is larger than the starling, she has a bright plumage, a narrow long beak and a crest, which is revealed in the form of a fan. In flight, it is compared with the butterfly.
The name “Udod” (lat. Upupa epops) is onosopiabeting, since the usual voice of Udoda is “u-do-do …” or “u-pu-bundle …”, and quite quiet. Males lure friends not with a song, but with a spectacular appearance. The crested handsome people will fight for the lady of the heart, like drowned roosters.
The nest is arranged in voids and niches in stones and buildings, hollows, burrows. In the laying up to 12 eggs, the female forces the masonry from 2 to 2.5 weeks, all this time her husband feeds her. In the nest, both parents feed the chicks for three weeks.
Udododes feed on large insects, mokritsy, multi -leafs, spiders, small mollusks, which are collected by their tweezers -shaped beaks. Occasionally they catch small lizards and frog, that is, these handsome men are small, but still predators.
