On board the Air Force One aircraft flying from Saudi Arabia to Qatar, Trump told reporters that he did not know if the Russian President would appear on peaceful conversations planned for Thursday in Turkey.
– He would like me to be there and it is possible. I don't know if it will appear if I am not. We will find out – said Trump, quoted by “The Guardian” and CNN.
The US President also emphasized that the United States is constantly taking into account the introduction of additional sanctions against Russia.
During the speech given on the night of May 11, the Russian dictator stated that he was allegedly ready for direct negotiations with the Ukrainian side in Turkey next week. At the same time, he ignored the idea of a 30-day arms suspension. In response, the American president emphasized that he would continue cooperation with both parties, and the coming week would be “important”.
Advisor to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mychajło Podolak said that on May 15, Zelanski would not meet with any other representative of Russia except Vladimir Putin. Later, the president himself confirmed that he would personally fly to Turkey to meet Putin.
Zelanski said that during negotiations in Turkey he would talk to the Russian dictator about the complete suspension of weapons and the exchange of all prisoners.
