The President of Russia proposed Ukraine to resume peace negotiations on May 15 in Istanbul. “Russia is ready to negotiate without any preliminary conditions,” he said. He did not rule out the conclusion of a weapon suspension during negotiations with Kiev.
Putin recalled conversations between Russia and Ukraine that took place in Istanbul in 2022 and which – as he said – were broken by the Ukrainian side. Wołodymyr Zelanski responded to Vladimir Putin's proposal, expecting a permanent suspension of weapons that would start on Monday. “I will be waiting for Putin in Turkey on Thursday. Personally. I hope that this time the Russians will not look for excuses,” wrote on the portal X Wołodymyr Zelnski.
Earlier, the US President assessed the Truth Social platform that Ukraine should agree to the negotiations in Istanbul, if only to assess whether it would be possible to get along with Russia.
