Trade unions demand the blocking of the act on health premiums, some entrepreneurs have a different opinion – President Andrzej Duda pointed out on Monday during a meeting with the social side of the RDS. He added that he asked for consultation before he made a decision as to the fate of the act.
The president at consultations at the Presidential Palace noted that the novella on the health premium was not consulted with the Council of Social Dialogue (RDS), which – as he assessed – is an unacceptable situation.
“I wanted to hear your opinion in Gremio, asking for a meeting of the Social Dialogue Council so that we would talk about this issue before making a decision as to the fate of the act,” said Andrzej Duda.
He said that “the situation is specific” because trade unions demand blocking this act. He added that critical voices fall from both OPZZ and NSZZ “Solidarity”.
The president emphasized that some entrepreneurs have a different opinion, which is why he would like to listen to these opinions directly.
The amendment to the Act on healthcare services financed from public funds and some other acts reduces the health premium for entrepreneurs from 2026. The regulation is associated with the loss of revenues from the NFZ contribution in the amount of about PLN 4.6 billion, which the government declares to cover from the state budget.
The amendment assumes the introduction of a two -element health contribution basis for entrepreneurs – to a certain level it would be a flat -rate, and from the surplus of income – percentage. The changes apply to about 2.5 million business activity.
Left against a reduction
Candidates for president Adrian Zandberg (Together) and Magdalena Biejat (Left), an agreement of residents of OZZL and the Supreme Medical Chamber appealed to the valuation of the act on the reduction of the health premium for entrepreneurs. They argue that lowering the premium will worsen the situation of patients and deepen the health care crisis.
The Sejm was reduced to the health contribution for entrepreneurs on April 4 with the voices of KO, Poland 2050-TD and PSL-TD. Against former PiS, left and circle deputies. The confederation abstained.
Donald Tusk announced that if the president vetos the changes in the health premium, he would take steps as the prime minister to return to this topic after the presidential election. (PAP)
