The inhabitants of Bihor County are called on Sunday at the ballot box, so that, with the first round of presidentials, the president of the County Council, as well as new mayors in the communes and Rieni, will choose their president.

The three functions for which partial local elections are organized have become vacancies after the parliamentary elections from the end of last year, informs Agerpres.

The position of president of CJ Bihor remained vacant after Ilie Bolojan won, at the election of December 1, 2024, a senator's term.

CJ Bihor Vice-President Mircea Mălan (PNL), took over this function and registered in the electoral race along with three other candidates: Ciprian Blejan from the Alliance party for the union of Romanians, Dimitrie Alecsandru Burdescu-Sos Romania and Mihai-Ioan Lasca-Patriotii Patriotii (PPR).

For the position of mayor of the commune of Căbeşti, Ioan Gheorghe Blaj, the current deputy mayor, from the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and Ionel Adrian Sârb from PNL will be confronted.

In the electoral competition for the position of mayor of Rieni commune, Florin Popa entered PNL and Florin Severius Sere from the gold.

According to the Permanent Electoral Authority, the number of voters registered in Bihor County on March 31, 2025, including those who will turn 18 at the time for the President of Romania, is 496,804.

The number of voters registered on the permanent electoral lists in Căbeşti commune is 1,469, and in Rieni commune it is 2,399.

In order to carry out the voting process on Sunday, 660 polling stations were established and organized in Bihor county, with an additional section, in Lugaşu de Jos, compared to last year's elections.
