A major current failed on Monday, April 28, 2025, the whole of Spain and Portugal, as well as the south of France, disrupting communications, transport and activity of airports. A Romanian young woman, studying near Lisbon, reported for Libertatea.ro the tense moments lived at the airport.
Leaving Romania during the day, the student landed in Madrid at 19:45 (Romania time), with a minor delay. The flight went normal, but upon arrival, the situation was already serious.

“It's chaos! Now the current goes. I have to go to Lisbon, and all today's flights to Lisbon have been canceled. My flight does not appear on the table, but the flight number is to Porto, so they probably redirected,” she told Madrid.
Inside the airport, dozens of people had formed queues to exit and find alternative means of transport.
“I don't know what's going on. Everyone is here … it's actually chaos. Everyone was expecting to leave the airport … Very long tail. So, chaos and outside,” the student said.

On Monday night, Ana Aeroportos, the company that manages the Portuguese airports, said that, due to damage, no offspring from Humberto Delgado airport in Lisbon are not scheduled until at least at 22:00.
“At Lisbon airport, the operations continue to be affected, the supply being provided by emergency generators, in the last two hours coming four flights and leaving four others,” said the airport administrator, quoted by Diario de Noticias.
Lisbon flights are diverted to Porto and Faro, where, according to the authorities, “the operations continue to take place with the limitations imposed by the situation”.
