The UPS company providing courier and logistics services plans to release 20 thousand. employees and closing 70 branches due to the limitation of the number of shipments it provided from Amazon.
“Actions that we undertake to (…) reduce costs in our entire activity could not be more current” – noted in Tuesday's statement the general director of UPS Carol Tome.
In January, UPS announced that he reached an agreement with Amazon, his largest customer, regarding the reduction of more than half of the volume of delivered shipments. Tome said then that after 30 years of cooperation with Amazon, UPS decided to re -evaluate the relationship between the company.
The company employs approx. 490,000 employees, reminded the AP agency. (PAP)
