In the newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+), in the note “Meeting of Writers” it was written about this:
“… Comrade Rabin pointed to writers to the main and most important in writing – improving the quality of the works. The fact is that all materials relating to the Jewish autonomous region are so interested in the seal of the Soviet Union, as well as abroad that raw unprocessed literary works are often printed, in which the artistic simplicity and brightness of the image are largely absent. Therefore, Corger called the literature workers Pay attention to the quality of literary works and to work on oneself.
The meeting decided instead of the publication of individual almanacs and collections to tightly group around the magazine “Opost” (16+) and give the most best and minted works to the anniversary number, by which it would be possible to determine the growth and quality of the work of the writers themselves. “

In the newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+), an interesting article by Viktor Gorelov about the toponyms of the Jewish autonomous region – “Our region in names” was published. The publication also affects the history of the development of the region since the middle of the XIX century.
“Extremely mottled the toponymy of our region. Some names are clear and understandable to us, the roots of others lurk in a foreign culture, an unfamiliar language.
A large group of toponyms originates in the linguistic culture of the Aborigines of the Amur Region.
The first settlement in the region was the village of Pashkovskaya (now the village of Pashkovo). The name is assigned in honor of the Nerchinsk governor of the XVII century A. Pashkov. Dezhnevo, Golovino, Kvashnino are derived from the names of the brave explosives of Dezhnev, Golovin, Kvashnin. The name of the scientist naturalist Radde wears the village in the Obluchensky district. “
He served at that time on the Amur Cossack centurion Kukel. The memory of him is preserved in the name Kukelevo – one of the villages of the Leninsky district. His contemporary was the chairman of the Council of the Main Directorate of Eastern Siberia, Lieutenant General Ventzel. His name is the village of Vengevoi in the same area.
The name of the wife of N. N. Muravyov-Amursky Ekaterina Nikolaevna is wearing the village of Ekaterino-Nikolskoye.
Samara, Nizhne-Spaskskoye, Stolbovoy, Union, Kazanka, Lazarevo-these names were transferred by Russian peer peasants from European provinces of Russia. Yellow Yar, oak, warm lake are named according to the characteristic signs of the area.
The name of the founder of the Soviet state V.I. Lenin is named the district center – the village of Leninskoye and one of the large areas. In honor of the fiery Bolshevik-Leninz P. G. Smidovich, the village of Smidovich and Smidovichsky district was named. The memory will forever remain in the names of the villages of the outstanding figures of our party S. M. Kirov and M. I. Kalinin.
The Amur Jewish Partnership founded Amurzet – the center of the Oktyabrsky district. Nayfeld and Birofeld – “New Field” and “Field by Bira” – are translated from the Jewish name of these villages. Waldheim means “forest house”.
The territory of the current Jewish Autonomous Region was populated by small groups of the Tungus, who called themselves Birars. Their language culture has given a lot of geographical names. A number of toponyms have the root of the “bear”-Bira, Birakan, Sagda-Brye, Birars. One of the groups of the Nanai branch of Bira called water or camp on large water – Birue. Birakan – small water, river. Here “kan” is a suffix of a diminutive value. “
The names with the suffixes “kan” are also widespread. We have in the region – the will, Kimkan.
A number of local toponyms have the root “ja”, “ji”. This is Bijan, Biranja, Huljiuri (the old name of Kuldur). “JJ” is water, but not the main artery of the zone, but secondary.
A number of toponyms of our region are based on the Mongol-Tungusky Language Culture: Karadub, Icura, Kirga, Dutur. And the name of the Amur allegedly came from the Mongolian “Haramuren” (Black River). Perhaps from the Nanai mother, or the Turkic “a-Mur”, both elements, which in ancient times designated the concept of “river”.
Another noticeable toponym of the region is Khingan. This is the name of the mountain ridge crossing the region, and the river flowing into the Amur. This name also came from the Turkish-Mongol language culture. “
