Iran accused Israel on Monday of trying to “undermine” the discussions of Tehran with Washington on the Iranian nuclear program, a key point with the Western tensions, AFP reports.

“A kind of coalition is formed … To undermine and disrupt the diplomatic process,” said the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of Iran, Esmail Baqaei, in press statements, accusing Israel of being behind this effort.

“In the United States there are a number of warlike currents and personalities from different factions,” added the representative of Iranian diplomacy.

The New York Times reported on Thursday that US President Donald Trump convinced Israel not to attack short -term Iranian nuclear bases.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has insisted that Israel will never allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.

Iran denies that he would like nuclear weapons

Western powers and Israel, considered by experts the only state in the Middle East equipped with nuclear weapons, has long accused Tehran of wanting to have such capabilities.

On the other side, Iran has always denied the accusations, insisting that its nuclear program has exclusively civilian goals.

In 2018, in the first term in the White House, Donald Trump withdrew the US from the agreement that several world powers had signed and Iran in 2015 and which involved relaxing the sanctions for Tehran in exchange for limiting the nuclear program.

A year later, Iran began to gradually violate the terms of the agreement, especially by enriching uranium at high levels.

According to the International Agency for Atomic Energy, Tehran has enriched uranium at 60%, close to the 90% level needed to manufacture weapons, and continue to accumulate large stocks of fiscal material.

The agreement signed in 2015 restricted the level to 3.67%.

Iran and Trump administration continue discussions

Iran and the US, enemy nations after the Islamic Revolution of 1979, will meet for a third round of Oman -mediated discussions.

On Saturday, in Rome, the two parties wore indirect negotiations for over four hours. The Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araghchi, and Trump's emissary for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, have changed messages through an Omanese official, according to Reuters.

Speaking of negotiations for state television, Araghchi described the interaction as a useful and carried out in a constructive atmosphere.

“We managed to make some progress in terms of a number of principles and objectives and, finally, we have reached a better understanding,” said the head of Iranian diplomacy.

“It has been agreed that the negotiations will continue and move on to the next phase, in which meetings will start on Wednesdays in Oman. Experts will have the opportunity to start elaborating a framework for an agreement,” said Abbas Aragchchi.
