Paradox of Ukrzaliznytsia: received 10 more billion from agrarians, but remained unprofitable
According to Pavel Koval, the CEO of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation, agrarians overpaid a minimum of 10 billion hryvnias of Ukrzaliznytsia, when it raised tariffs for a record 70%at the beginning of the war. But – the paradox – it remained unprofitable.
For exporters since 2022, the cost of logistics has increased 6-8 times. Now the UZ wants another increase in tariffs, this time – almost 40%. But if you do not change the company itself, then this increase will also pass by, and the management will continue to complain about the losses.
The only way out is to reform the UZ and finally stop subsidizing passenger transportation at the expense of business. Moreover, given that the company does not even try to order the passenger.
