As for public media “we have some transitional form” that does not satisfy me and does not satisfy me – emphasized the Marshal of the Sejm, the third way candidate for President Szymon Hołownia. These are not public media yet those that I dreamed about when I went to politics – he added.

The marshal was asked on Wednesday at a press conference whether the defeat of the current ruling coalition is that we do not have real public media in Poland. This question referred to the Marshal's earlier statements during the conference, when, speaking of public television, he called her government television.
“We have some transitional form that does not satisfy me and does not satisfy me. These are not public media yet, which I dreamed of when I went to politics. I hope that the media law we are waiting for will be a method of resolving this case” – replied Hołownia.
The marshal emphasized that it was impossible to “get involved in any games” with questions, or as the previous president of TVP, during the rule of PiS Jacek Kurski, it was better or worse. “Of course, it was dramatically for Kurski. Nobody doubts that they (PiS) from public media made a brothel. However, what is happening today also raises questions, raises doubts. And in connection with the above you have to act” – noted the presidential candidate.
He added that “public television must become a national treasure”. “That is why we must take care of the media law and therefore we have to + derivate + state -owned companies, so that they also remain fully transparent to those who are their owners” – said Hołownia.
The chairman of the National Media Council Wojciech Król recently informed that the Media Act may go to the list of legislative works of the Council of Ministers in April. He added that the process of liquidation of public media should be completed by the end of 2025.
The chairman of the RMN also announced that one of the key assumptions of the Act is the liquidation of the subscription fee. “The subscription today is such an artificial creation. We decided that we will not maintain this subscription. Financing of the media will be on the side of the state budget, i.e. de facto from the money of citizens, nothing will change here, they will simply not bear the costs of the subscription fee. I personally think, and we also talk that we will be able to be without advertising. Adding that sponsorship would be acceptable.
In addition to the liquidation of the radio and television subscription, the assumptions are also envisaged, among others Reformation and competence strengthening of public media program councils and amendment to the principles of establishing and functioning of supervisory boards and management boards of public radio and television companies.
