The candidate of the ruling coalition in the presidential elections, Crin Antonescu, said on B1 TV, that if he will become president, he will not try to bring USR to government, explaining that reforms in Romania are not made according to the presence of USR.

Asked if he would try to bring USR to government to have a wider coalition, Crin Antonescu replied: “It is uninteresting, that is, it is not decisive. Reforms in Romania is not made according to the presence of USR in government”, according to news.ro.

On the other hand, Antonescu argues that even if the USR would form the government alone, “these people (from USR-no) would still quarrel with each other.”

“If 88% of Parliament tomorrow will tell the USRs and take the monocol government and we all support you, these people, in a month, will argue with the government. Changes in Romania do not belong to the fact that it is the USR in government,” said Crin Antonescu.

The candidate of the coalition also stated that he will not force the change of Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu if he will become president. “If I do not cooperate well with the government at one point, I certainly talk to the Government, but I do not start to make a scandal,” said Antonescu.

The USR is in full scandal after, last week, the formation decided to withdraw the support of Elena Lasconi for the presidential candidacy and support Nicuşor Dan.

Elena Lasconi reacted, specifying that she was not present at the party meeting and that it was a new attempt but to stop the campaign. She gave assurances that she was still the USR president.
