You have to earn so much to be in 5 percent. the richest in your city [KWOTY]

How large is such a group? According to economists, “rich” constitute about 4-5 percent. population. In the case of all of Poland, we are talking about less than 2 million people, and when we narrow the number only to working people, it will be about 1 million Poles.

Below we present calculations for each commune separately. 10 thousand PLN on hand in Warsaw has nothing to do up to 10,000. PLN on hand in Biały Dunajec, Lanckoron or Cedynia. And there are places in Poland, especially in Podhale, where such a salary gives the title of local Krezus.

How much does the rich earn? We estimated it

According to German scientists, the income division of society is therefore as follows: people earning 80 to 150 percent. The median is a middle class. This is not the end. From 60 to 80 percent The median is so -called lower middle class, and from 150 to 250 percent – higher middle class.

Whereas Everything above 250 percent median earnings in a given areathey are already “relatively rich” people. According to the Germans, this corresponds to about 4 percent. society, i.e. one out of 25 inhabitants.

For all of Poland, the threshold is about 12.5 thousand. PLN net for a single, 18.7 thous. PLN for a couple and 22.5 thousand PLN for a family with a small child. In the case of a larger family (with two, three or four children), the amounts are growing to 26.2, 30 and 33.7 thousand, respectively. PLN per month on hand.

However, this is the data that does not quite reflect reality. The whole country cannot be treated as one thing. Salaries differ in individual regions. On the map below So we present our estimates for all 2477 communes in Poland. The data illustrates the state in October 2024 (unfortunately the newer ones have not yet published).

How to read the map? Just hover in the local government we are interested in. After clicking (on a smartphone) or hovering with a mouse (computer), the table with the data will develop. We'll find out from her What the income threshold looks like, after which we can exceed in this particular commune as the rich. Separate for the single, couple and families with one, two, three or four children. You can also choose your municipality from the list in the upper left corner of the graphics.

Importantly, this is about the total household income “on hand”. We include all its sources here: remuneration for work, rental income, pensions, 800 plus and other benefits and any money that regularly flows into your home budget.

“Rich” does not mean the same

Even a cursory map analysis proves that the word “rich” can be a very subjective term and depending on where we live.

In Szaflary in Podhale, just over 9.3 thousand are enough. PLN per month on hand for a single, so that he would be considered rich in his environment. A wealthy marriage in this commune must earn more than 14 thousand. PLN, and a family with one small child – 16.8 thousand PLN per month on hand.

On the other hand, in the richest local governments, the above amounts are not enough even to be “quite rich”, i.e. a higher middle class. In Warsaw and in the so -called bagel, i.e. Old Babice, Podkowa Leśna or Michałowice, single with a salary of 9.3 thous. PLN on hand is still “only” average.

It can also be seen that even several dozen kilometers can matter. Take the Lower Silesian commune of Jerzmanowa and located less than 50 km to the north of the Wijewo commune in the Lubuskie Voivodeship.

Here the difference is colossal. In Wijewo, a single with a salary of 9.7 thousand is very rich. zloty. In Jerzmanowa, however, the same man would be a classic “medium”, which still lacks several hundred zlotys to even a higher middle class.

This is how we calculated the thresholds of wealth

As we wrote in the previous material, so far when calculating the middle and higher class we used mainly the OECD definition. She said that “medium” is each with earnings from 75 to 200 percent. The median net wages, and everything above is “rich”.

In larger households, calculations already require the use of a special formula, in which the total household income is divided by an element of the number of family members. It's quite complicated.

Economists from Cologne approach the matter a bit differently. They assumed that the middle class was people with a net salary of 80 to 150 percent median, and the one who earns at least 250 percent is rich. Median remuneration in a given area.

There is no problem with the single. Estimating this for larger households is already a bigger challenge.

According to the Germans, it cannot be assumed that in the case of pairs living jointly, income must be automatically doubled. Here the so -called The concept of weighing needs.

“It takes into account the fact that Life becomes more profitable when several people live together and that children need less money than adults” – we read in the publication of the Institute of German Economy, which appeared at the end of March. At the same time, a child aged 16-17, and a 4-year-old child is different.

Painting: a larger number of people at home allows some logical savings. A double farm does not use twice as much heat, and you do not need to cook two pots for soup for dinner. This is probably quite an obvious assumption.

That is why economists from Cologne to each subsequent family member attribute specific weights.

The first adult has a factor of 1, each additional household member over 14 years of age receives a 0.5 factor, and children under 14 years of age – a factor 0.3” – we read in the study. This is the key to our calculations.

The couple without children must earn 1.5 times as much as a single to be at a level like him. In the case of marriage with a preschooler, this will be a total 1.8 (1 plus 0.5 plus 0.3) factor, and in the case of a family with two small children and a 16-year-old-2.6 (1 plus 0.5 plus 0.3 plus 0.3 and plus 0.5).
