The Williams team has received a new fine from the beginning of the Formula 1 season, this time due to an incident between the two cars of the British team.
The incident took place during the first free training session before the Bahrain Grand Prize. Alex Albon blocked Luke Browning's path, which replaced Carlos Sainz, on the short right between turns 12 and 13.
Browning was in a fast tour when he arrived on Albon, which rolled at low speed on the ideal trail. Both pilots headed to the right side of the track, one to overcome his teammate, and the other to set aside. At that time, Browning was forced to take measures to avoid contact, which was not to the pleasure of the commissioners.
Between the two training sessions in Sakhir, the commissioners convened the two pilots and a representative of the Williams team to discuss the incident. In front of the commissioners, Albon acknowledged that he did not see him on Browning approaching, invoking the configuration of the track in that portion and the presence of Felipe Drugovich. The team said that the engineers of the two pilots did not warn them because they were “distracted”, which is why the Commission fined 7,500 euros.
The third consecutive weekend in which the Williams team is fined
In China, the team was fined 50,000 euros, of which 40,000 with suspension, for not presenting the records regarding the behavior of the rear wings after the Shanghai training.
In Japan, Sainz was fined twice: the first time with 1,000 euros to exceed the speed on the boxes during the third training session, and then with 20,000 euros, of which half suspension, for delaying the anthem of Japan before the start of the Suzuka race.
