The head of the Tashir Group of Companies and the philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan was detained in Yerevan. According to the local press, the special forces of the special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia stormed his house and searched the businessman’s apartment on Ulnezi-Street.
Armenia media notes that Samvel’s detention is connected with his interview, where he supported the Armenian Church. Said:
One small group, having forgotten the history of Armenia, the history of the Armenian Church, numbering millennia, arranged attacks on the Armenian Church, the people … Since I have always been next to the Armenian Church and the people, I will take a direct part … If politicians are not able to, then we will participate in all this.
The President of the Union of Armenians of Russia Ara Abramyan condemned the actions of the Armenian authorities against Samvel Karapetyan. Meanwhile, opposition deputies of the Armenia faction came to the house of the head of the Tashir Group of Companies, his brother and nephew are located there.
