Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski spoke about the assassination of Andrii Paribi, a first-place figure of the Ukrainian politics, in his daily speech to the nation.

“Unfortunately, the crime was praised carefully,” Zelenski said, assuring that “every effort is made to solve it.”

Executed in the street, at Liov

Deputy Andrii Parubîi, known for his role in the pro-European revolution in the 2014 Maidan Square, was shot dead on Saturday in Lvot, a big city in western Ukraine, by an “unidentified man” who “fired several firearms” and then fled, according to the Attorney General, reports France Presse.

The Ukrainian parquet later announced that it has launched an investigation into the killing of the politician, who was 54 years old.

“A preliminary investigation was opened for the intentional killing of Andrii Parubîi,” the Bureau of the Attorney General announced in a statement. The author is still sought by the police.

This assassination occurs in a period of intensification of confrontations, in the east and southeast of Ukraine, between the Ukrainian and Russian armed forces.

Ukrainian air forces announced on Saturday that they had shot down 510 of the 537 drones and 38 of the 45 rockets launched by Russia on Friday night in an attack on Ukraine. In 21 cases drones and rockets launched by the Russian army caused material damage.

An attack on the Russian forces targeted the city of Zaporojie, southern Ukraine, where one person died and at least 24 were injured, including three children. The governor of the Zapuijie region, Ivan Fedorov, told the Telegram application that the attack had damaged the infrastructure and several apartment buildings.

On the other hand, the Ukrainian army informed that during the Friday night on Saturday it hit the refineries in the Russian cities Krasnodar and Sizran.
