Until recently, the regulation for organizing the football activity in Romania provided that the list of players could only be modified with newcomers at the club, during the transfer period. Once removed from the list, a player could no longer be reintroduced after sending the document to LPF.
Gigi Becali publicly challenged this rule, wanting to restore Malcom Edjoua after the start of the championship. According to the old provision, the club should have terminated the French contract and make a new one.

FRF and LPF, however, modified the rule, allowing the midfielding to reintegrate into the list of players eligible with the existing contract. In reply, quickly, through Victor Angelescu's voice, issued a statement, which can be consulted in the lines below:
Rapid does not accept that the rules of the championship be changed overnight, in full season, to favor a single club. This is neither the right football, no respect for the competition and the work of all the teams. The FRF Emergency Committee modified ROAF without consulting the clubs and without a minimum transparency.
Changed a rule that has been in effect for years, that did not represent a real emergencybut will have an immediate effect on the transfer period and the players' right. In other words: it intervened directly in the championship.
When you change the rules during the game, you hit the credibility of football. When you do it to benefit someone, you hit the fair-play. QTogether with those from Craiova, I asked for the immediate suspension of the application of this change and resuming the discussions transparently, with all the participants at the table. If this does not happen, we will go to the end, using all the legal ways to defend the correctness of the championship.
I do not want to be misunderstood, we do not oppose the modernization or improvement of the regulations, but these changes must be made transparent, with the participation of all those involved and in compliance with the competitive calendar. It's not just Rapid or Craiova. It is about Romanian football and respect for supporters, for the work of the players and the spirit of the competition. If we lose that, we lose everything.
