Fuel prices twisted down. Diesel should fall below PLN 6/l

The beginning of August brought a continuation of cosmetic price reductions at distributors. A chance for a more important discount is given by the disintegration of fuels on global stock exchanges in combination with the weakening of the dollar and the strengthening of the zloty.

In the first full week of August, the PB95 gas was paid on average PLN 5.87i.e. 2 grosze less than a week ago – according to BM Reflex data. Diesel cost on average 6.01 PLN/l, So 4 grosze per liter less than at the end of July. To the level PLN 2.70/l (i.e. -1 gr/l) The average retail price of autogas has decreased.

Remember that we write about average prices in the whole country. Prices at individual stations may vary by up to several dozen pennies per liter, depending on the location and strength of local competition.
Although it was the sixth decrease in average retail prices in a row, the prices displayed on pylons generally did not return to the value from mid -June. Both PB95 and he are on average, 14 gr/li 31 gr/l, respectively, than they were two months ago. This shows how slow the pace of lowering the price lists by retailers was and that fuel prices still have a lot of space for further discounts.
It is already cheaper in wholesale
The situation on global markets speaks for stronger reduction of retail fuel prices in Poland. Gallon of gasoline on the New York Stock Exchange again costs just over two dollars – that is, like in May or early June. Also, diesel oil ratings in London ICE fell into the area of 677 USD/TI returned to the states from before the June attack of Israel on Iran.

In addition, both the dollar weakness in relation to the euro as well as the strengthening of the Polish currency that occurred on Thursday works for cheaper fuel. The first effects can already be seen in the price lists of domestic refineries. On August 8, Orlen offered Eurosuper 95 gas 4475 PLN/m3, which after adding 23% VAT gives approx. 5.50 PLN/l (excise duty and other parapodates are already included in the wholesale price). And this is already 37 gr/l less than the average retail price. Hence, the decrease in the latter by even 10-20 gr/l would not be an exaggerated fad.
The same difference appeared in the case of diesel, which in the Friday price list of the Płock refinery was at a price of PLN 4582/m3, i.e. PLN 5.64/l. It's as much as 20 gr/l less than a week ago. When maintaining the current rates in wholesale, prices in detail could be clearly below PLN 6/l. But this will depend on the price policy of the largest players on the retail market.
As always, it is worth recalling that fuels could be much cheaper were it not for the taxes imposed by the authorities. From each liter of gasoline or diesel, over 50% of the state goes into the hands of the state. Without this tribute, we could refuel PB95 gasoline around PLN 2.60, diesel oil for less than PLN 3.
