President Karol Nawrocki took over on Wednesday, during the ceremony in front of the tomb of an unknown soldier, sovereignty over the armed forces of the Republic of Poland.
The ceremony is symbolic. Nawrocki has been the head of the armed forces from the moment of taking the office of the president, i.e. from swearing in before the National Assembly, which took place earlier on Wednesday.
– For the entire five years of exercising the office, I will call all the Polish Army soldiers the heroes of our present. You are the heroes of our present day – said President Karol Nawrocki on Wednesday.
– We are standing in a special place today for Polish community consciousness. A special place not only in Polish history, but also in a special place in the heart of every Polish soldier at the tomb of an unknown soldier, who is a symbol of readiness to fight, to sacrifice for the free and independent Polish Republic – emphasized Nawrocki.
Nawrocki: I will be an active head of the armed forces
Nawrocki emphasized that “in the 21st century we know well that our security is not only military security and military security, it is also civil security.” – But we are deeply convinced that today whether Poland is safe or not, Polish soldiers are deciding – the president emphasized.
He added that he has no development and prosperity of Poland without security. – I will be an active head of the armed forces. Nawrocki also announced the decision that a special department of groundbreaking technology will be created as part of the BBN, which is to support the efforts of the Ministry of National Defense and the Polish army in the development of new technologies.
Objective? 300,000 soldiers
After taking over the sovereignty of the Polish Armed Forces, President Karol Nawrocki announced that he would do everything to build an army at least 300,000 in the coming years, which will be the strongest NATO army in Europe. I know how difficult this process is, but I believe that Poland will become a military power – he added.
In a speech after he took over the authority of the Polish Armed Forces, Nawrocki emphasized that he would build Poland's responsibility and readiness of Polish officers in the North Atlantic Alliance.
– I will support all the efforts of the modernization of the Polish state and the Polish army. But let's have no doubt – allies are defended only by those who can defend themselves. That is why, as the President of Poland, I will do everything to build a Polish army at least 300,000 in the coming years, the strongest army of the North Atlantic Alliance in Europe – the president announced.
– I know how a complicated and difficult process. But who, if not the president of the Polish state, is to believe that in the next five, ten, twenty years Poland will become a military power of Europe? Yes, I believe it and I will make every effort and full effort to happen – said Nawrocki.
He added that the tomb of an unknown soldier is also a symbol of death, a symbol of giving his life for a free homeland. – And because we are aware of the symbolism, and at what time and place we meet, for the entire five years of my office I will call you all – soldiers of the Polish Army – the heroes of our present day. The army excluded from the political dispute

Nawrocki emphasized during the ceremony at Piłsudski Square that he would support “all recruits and this patriotic, wonderful Polish youth who wants to serve in the Polish army.”

As he assessed, the Polish army “experiences the largest transformation period in its history”, mentioning, among others construction of drone troops, east shield, construction of “the largest potential of the third largest army in the North Atlantic Alliance today.”
