Jorge Costa, the former captain and current sports director of FC Porto, died at the age of 53, following a cardiac arrest. Costa was on the Olival sports base when he was hurt. He received the first medical care right on the spot from Porto's medical team.

Doctors tried to save his life with a defibrillator. He was urgently transported to the hospital, but without result. Costa had undergone heart surgery three years ago.

Jorge Costa played at FC Porto between 1990 and 2005, winning, among other things, the Champions League and the UEFA Cup. He trained in Cyprus, at Ael Limassol and Anorthosis Famagusta.

Jorge Costa remains in history as the captain of the FC Porto team who, in the 2003/04 season, under the leadership of José Mourinho, won the Champions League. A year before, also with Costa Captain, “The Special One” also triumphed in the UEFA Cup, after a victory in the final with Celtic. These successes made Mourinho famous around the world and contributed to the development of his career.
