The long-range drones operated by Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) targeted and hit Radiozavod, a key facility in Penza, Russia, which is part of the Rostec State Corporation and supports the Russian military-industrial complex, a SBU source for Kyiv Post said on Thursday.
This important electronic factory produces automated control systems for different branches of the Russian army – anti -aircraft defense, artillery and mobile control stations based on armored vehicles with advanced communication systems.
Due to its role in the arming of Russia, the factory is under international sanctions.
“SBU systematically reduces Russia's ability to produce for its army. The summer test season at the high-tech companies of the Russian military-industrial complex is in full swing,” said the source quoted by the Ukrainian publication.

At least 11 explosions were recorded during the raid with unanswered air vehicles (UAVs), after which a large fire broke out. A new production complex and deposits containing essential components were hit, according to the same source.

Andrii Kovalenko, the head of the Center for Combating Misinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, confirmed that the Penza factory was hit on Thursday, July 31. He added that the plant produces:
- Mobile control centers;
- Automated systems for controlling fighting;
- Radio devices for ground forces, air forces and strategic missile forces;
- Modernized control vehicles, based on armored platforms.
According to Kovalenko, the factory is essential for Russia's military command infrastructure, and its destruction could seriously affect the military coordination of Moscow forces.

Russian telegram channels have distributed records that show dense black smoke, visible in Penza. A clip surprises a large fire and claims that “the factory is bombarded”.
The local governor confirmed an attack and fire at one of the companies, but claimed that there were no victims or material damage.
The Russian authorities also announced temporary restrictions on mobile internet in the region, saying that they were imposed to support drone counteracting systems.
Separately, a fire broke out in Kotelnikovo, in the Volgograd region, after another drone attack at night, according to the Astra channel on Telegram. Governor Andrei Bocharov said that the drones had attacked both transport and energy infrastructure.
Railway traffic near the Tinguta station in the Svitloyarsky district has been restricted. Images captured in Kotelnikovo shows a proportional fire after the Ukrainian attack with drones.
