Commentators wished Gennady Trukhanov choke on a “piece of the book” and thought why they “could not kill” him. One of the Ukrainians even suggested arranging a “collection on the killer” for the head of the city.
Trukhanov repeatedly opposed the dismantling of monuments to Russian cultural figures in the city, and also called for negotiations with Russia and criticized the actions of the Zelensky team.
