What Nicușor Dan and Austrian Chancellor in Salzburg discussed. “A new chapter in the bilateral relationship”

President Nicușor Dan met with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, on Saturday, in Salzburg, and the two officials “stressed the interest of both parties to open a new chapter in the bilateral relationship, through a political dialogue and a sustained economic cooperation, as well as through a European plan,” the presidential administration notes.
The President of Romania and the Chancellor of Austria spoke about the relations between the two countries and “stressed the common desire to continue to encourage commercial links and investments to better respond to current economic development needs.”
“President Nicușor Dan expressed the appreciation for the contribution of Austrian capital to the development of the Romanian economy and emphasized the interest for both a more sustained presence of the Romanian companies on the Austrian market, as well as for the extension of cooperation, through common projects, in the vicinity, respectively in the Western Balkans, the Republic of Moldova or Ukraine”.

According to the Romanian side, Nicușor Dan and Christian Stocker also talked about “aspects related to energy security by improving the interconnection between the countries in the region”.
“In the regional level, the two leaders discussed the use of the potential offered by the Danube, both in terms of transport and connectivity and from the perspective of Ukraine's reconstruction,” notes the Presidential Administration.
The “importance of continuous support for the Republic of Moldova, including through political, financial and technical support” was also addressed.
The head of the Romanian statue and the Austrian Chancellor also expressed “the firm support for the advancement of the extension process in the Western Balkans, considering this essential approach to regional stability.”
“The meeting in Salzburg has reconfirmed the commitment of both parties for close cooperation in the European framework, in the spirit of solidarity and promoting the role of the European Union as an influent and competitive actor,” concluded the Presidential Administration.
The meeting between Nicușor Dan and the Chancellor Christian Stocker took place during the official visit made by the Romanian president in Austria, at the invitation of his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Van der Bellen, with whom he met on Friday.
