The dynamics between Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is increasingly tense, and the attack of last Thursday over the only Catholic church in Gaza has caused an immediate negative reaction from the US president, CNN reports.

The US president was also surprised by the air attacks of Israel that targeted government buildings in the Syrian capital Damascus, last week, in the context in which the Trump administration works to rebuild the nation of war.

“The president enjoys a good working relationship with Bibi Netanyahu and communicates frequently with him. He was taken by surprise by the bombing in Syria and also the bombardment of a Catholic church in Gaza,” the White House reporters told Karoline Leavitt on Monday.

“In both cases, the president raised the prime minister quickly to rectify those situations,” said the press secretary, who reminded of the attempts made by the State Secretary Rubio to calm tensions in Syria.

“The message of the president about this conflict we see in the Middle East for too long, which has become quite brutal, especially in recent days, you have seen stories about the death of several people. I think the president never likes to see this. He wants the killings to stop,” Leavitt said.

According to CNN, Trump's relationship with Netanyahu has long been a complicated one. The Israeli leader and the US president are strong allies, but they are not personally close and have sometimes confronted with mutual distrust, people have said familiar with the dynamics of the two heads of state.

However, Trump seemed closer than never to Netanyahu following his decision to join Israel's air campaign in Iran. During one who in the blue room of the White House, this month, Netanyahu presented with dramatism a letter he wrote to the Nobel Committee in which he nominates Trump at the Peace Prize.

Trump has hoped that Netanyahu's four -day visit to Washington will bring progress in a ceasefire in Gaza, which will include the release of Hamas -owned hostages and a significant increase in the amount of humanitarian aid that can enter the besieged enclave. The US President repeatedly stated before the visit, that he was expecting a cessation of fire that week. But Netanyahu left the United States without announcing any understanding.

Now – almost a week after the mediators have transmitted Hamas the latest proposal on ceasing fire and the release of the ancients – all parties are still waiting for Hamas leaders in Gaza to answer, two sources familiar with negotiations told CNN. Hamas showed in a statement on Monday that he is doing “every effort and uses his energy without stop” to reach an agreement on a ceasefire in the gas and the issuance of hostages.
