Ilie Bolojan, as no one remembers, 12 years ago, when he promised to develop Oradea: “Any local administration must reduce the expenses”

12 years ago, Ilie Bolojan, the prime minister appointed today by President Nicușor Dan, gave a hotnews interview, as mayor of Oradea, in which the story of measures took and what plans he had for the city to which he had been elected a second time.
Ilie Bolojan, interim president of the PNL, was appointed today, by Nicușor Dan, to form the next government with which he will go to Parliament to receive the investment vote.
The 56-year-old Liberal also held the highest position in the state-he was interim president of the country after Klaus Iohannis's resignation, until Nicușor Dan took his mandate following the elections.
His name was constantly carved by the central leadership of the party, at each company, but until last year, Ilie Bolojan was undoubtedly from Bihor, where he occupied, in turn, all the local management positions.
In 1996, he held the first position in the public administration, being elected local councilor in Aleşd, a small town near Oradea. He was then county councilor, prefect, mayor and president of the County Council in Bihor.
In 2013, when he had taken over the second term of mayor of Oradea for a year, the current designated prime minister, 12 years younger and a few kilograms in the minus, gave the journalist Hotnews Catiușa Ivanov an exclusive interview in which he talked about what he did in Oradea in the first term and what he had proposed.
Reduced the mayor's staff by 30% in the first term of mayor in Oradea
“In 2008, we had some imbalances in the budget of the town hall. For example, at 50 million euros in their own revenues, almost 11 million euros represented the personnel expenses, with all the related rights,” explains Mayor Bolojan.
“Who has many employees, consumes a good part of the budget with the payment of salaries. And then, one of the measures we took was to reduce the staff in four successive waves, up to 30%, so that we can lower the personnel expenses by almost two million euros. And in this way, from the money saved to the personnel, we could have the expenses. 2013.
The mayor explains that you cannot increase the income if you do not have an important economic growth, “what cannot be done from one day to another”, or if you do not increase the taxes with an important amount, “what you cannot do because the supporting threshold is reached almost in Romania”.
“So the main direction that I think must follow any local administration is to reduce the expenses,” concluded Bolojan, 12 years ago.
