The polling stations opened on Sunday throughout the country starting at 07.00. Romanians will be able to vote until 21.00, when the ballot boxes will be closed and we will find out the first EXIT-POLL results for the presidential elections 2025. In the diaspora they are already voting for two days, and the citizens abroad can go to the ballot box until 21.00.

Over 18 million voters are expected on Sunday to choose the president between the two candidates who qualified in the second round of the 2025 presidential elections: George Simion and Nicușor Dan.

How do I find out where I vote

In Romania, 18,979 polling stations are opened on Sunday, according to the Permanent Electoral Authority. 1,289 sections are organized in the Capital. Romanians with voting rights in the diaspora vote from Friday, May 16, in 965 sections organized for the presidential elections 2025.

To find out at which polling station they are registered to vote, people can access the registraelectoral.ro, where they need to introduce the CNP to see the polling station where they have been shaped.

At the presidential elections 2025, Romanians who are not in the home town can vote at any polling station. To find the closest polling station according to the place where they are, people can see the list of all the nearly 19,000 sections organized in Romania in the table below:

For voters residing in Bucharest, it is important to note that those with their domicile in one sector cannot vote in another sector, but can vote outside Bucharest, if they are not in the Capital.

For the presidential elections 2025, the voting calendar for the Romanians in the diaspora extends for three days. The ballot boxes were opened on Friday, May 16, and they close on Sunday, May 18, at 21.00, Romania time.

At presidential elections 2025, the voters who at 21.00 are at the headquarters of the polling station, as well as those who are in a row outside the polling station headquarters to enter the voting premises can exercise their right to vote until at most 23.59, according to the Permanent Electral Authority.

What documents do you need to vote on presidential elections 2025

At presidential elections 2025, voters can vote with an identity card valid on the day of voting, issued by the Romanian state, respectively:

  • identity card;
  • Electronic Identity Book;
  • provisional identity card;
  • the identity card;
  • diplomatic passport;
  • Electronic diplomatic passport;
  • service passport;
  • Electronic service passport;
  • the military service book (in the case of students in military schools).

The simple passport, the simple electronic passport and the temporary simple passport can be used for the exercise of the voting right only by the Romanian citizens who vote abroad or by the Romanian citizens with their domicile abroad who vote in Romania.
