The Ukrainian went up to Everest for the eighth time, setting a new national record


“We have an incredible news about the eighth ascent to Everest of our graduate Valentin Sipavin in May 2025,” the report said.

The university noted that before that the climber visited Everest in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023 and twice in 2024.

The university said that Sipavin graduated from their faculty of geology, geography, recreation and tourism.


Alpclub.com.ua wrote that Sipavin was born in Kharkov and received a specialty “Physical Geography and Cartography” at the university.

Context

Everest is the highest peak of the globe, located in the Himalayas on the border of China and Nepal.

As noted by BBC in 2024, the cost of permission to climb Everest is approximately $ 10 thousand.
