Trump’s Special Envoy Paolo Zampolli Dismissed Following Email Dispute

Paolo Zampolli, the U.S. special envoy who recently found himself embroiled in an email dispute, has been dismissed from his position just hours after a report by Politico highlighted the conflict. The American official confirmed his termination on Thursday, stating that his status as a special envoy had ended and he is no longer employed by the Washington government.
In a statement regarding his dismissal, Zampolli expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve President Donald Trump and stated, “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve President Trump and the United States.” He added that it was time for him to return to business and focus on building relationships and closing deals.
Zampolli’s dismissal followed months of escalating tensions with Christopher Landau, the Deputy Secretary of State, as they clashed over authority and the chain of command. Zampolli criticized Landau in interviews, claiming he had attacked him from day one and attempted to undermine his work.
The email exchanges, which reportedly included over a dozen government officials, were not only notable for personal attacks but also for the serious nature of the accusations exchanged. Landau had instructed Zampolli to cease sending “crazy emails” until further notice from the White House.
Incident in Romania
In late August, during a visit to Romania, Zampolli made headlines when he called Bucharest’s mayor, Nicușor Dan, in front of the press. This interaction occurred shortly before the inauguration of the “Donald Trump” park in Sector 4 of Bucharest, where Zampolli was a guest of Mayor Daniel Băluță.
During the call, Zampolli told Dan he was relaying Trump’s gratitude to him and the Romanian people for the park project. Dan, at the time preparing for a meeting in Chișinău, responded affirmatively, and they discussed Zampolli’s upcoming plans to visit Uzbekistan.
Background on Zampolli
Paolo Zampolli, who has been involved in U.S. cultural diplomacy, was previously a modeling agent who is said to have introduced Melania Trump to Donald Trump during the 1998 New York Fashion Week. His position as a special envoy required him to represent the United States at global cultural events and foster partnerships worldwide.
Recently, Zampolli has faced serious allegations from model Victoria Drake, who accused him of sexual assault. Zampolli has denied these claims, asserting that they are part of an attempt to extort him. The lawsuit was filed in early September, and he contends that he has also initiated legal action against Drake in Italy for alleged blackmail.
As Zampolli’s legal battles unfold, he remains a controversial figure within both American and Romanian political spheres, with his connections to prominent officials and ongoing disputes drawing significant public attention.
