Ukraine Receives Four Ceasefire Proposals from India, US, Turkey, and Egypt

Ceasefire proposals from various countries discussed by Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry has announced that India, the United States, Turkey, and Egypt have proposed various options for a ceasefire. The ministry indicated that Ukraine is prepared for a combined energy and Black Sea ceasefire.

According to the minister, India’s initiative is the most comprehensive. “For the first time, India has offered to play a role in this process,” stated Deputy Minister Sibiha.

He clarified that by energy ceasefire, Ukraine refers to a complete halt of strikes on all energy facilities, including port infrastructure.

Additionally, the minister mentioned two other similar proposals concerning a food ceasefire in the Black Sea. Turkey was the first to propose such an agreement, followed by Egypt, which is heavily reliant on Ukrainian grain, receiving a third of its supplies from the country, alongside significant imports from Russia. This makes it crucial for Egypt to resolve the issue.

The fourth proposal comes from the US regarding the energy ceasefire, which was discussed during a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump.

“We are looking for suggestions,” the minister added.

Moreover, Ukraine believes that a meeting between President Zelensky and illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin could lead to an agreement on a ceasefire, emphasized Sibiha.

“We are open to various formats of ceasefire, including an unconditional one at the frontline. We have communicated all this, and the Americans have accepted it and are also working in this direction,” concluded the minister.

Context

  • Ukraine has repeatedly urged the aggressor for mutual de-escalation, but on September 25, Putin stated that such proposals remain “on the table,” and Russia will decide how to respond based on its interests.
