Ukrainian Premier Korenets was questioned about the necessity for residents to evacuate to safer regions ahead of winter, a recommendation frequently issued by authorities in major cities, including Kyiv. He stated, “I always consider the worst-case scenario. Evacuation is somewhat extreme. However, individuals with limited mobility or disabilities need special attention. Why not provide support for these people through their relatives or local social services?”
Korenets emphasized that he has already discussed this issue with Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko. He pointed out that the authorities are aware of the number of individuals who may require assistance, and relevant services are currently engaged with them.
For individuals needing extra support, alternative accommodations are being sought, with Kyiv actively addressing the issue. Korenets remarked, “If a person lives on the 16th floor and there are power outages, why should we focus on addressing the needs of vulnerable individuals during a crisis? This should be managed today.”
