Patients at Risk of Losing Access to Essential Medications, Doctor Warns

Medical patients are increasingly at risk of going without essential medications, according to Dr. Olga Golubovska. She highlighted the situation as a consequence of the healthcare ministry’s lack of preparedness, which could lead to patients potentially dying from inadequate medical assistance. Following the destruction of significant stockpiles of medications at the Biocon warehouse, the Ministry of Health (MOH) urgently needs to identify what specific medications will be in short supply.

Dr. Golubovska emphasized the importance of redistributing existing medications in collaboration with distributors and urged the government to facilitate the import of alternatives. “Patients on ongoing treatment should consult with their doctors about alternatives and, if possible, stock up on necessary medications,” she advised. “Once again, critical patients are becoming victims of bureaucratic negligence, as their lives depend daily on imported drugs,” she added.
