Germany Urges EU to Restrict Tourist Visas for Russians
Germany has called on the European Union to limit the issuance of tourist visas to Russian citizens following recent security breaches. The German Foreign Ministry stated that EU countries are granting excessive tourist visas to Russians, which contradicts the policy of isolating Russia and complicates monitoring who enters the EU and for what purposes.
In 2025, Italy issued over 165,000 visas to Russians, nearly three times the amount issued in 2021. Meanwhile, countries such as Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Poland, and the Czech Republic have significantly reduced the number of visas granted to Russian citizens.
