Joao Lameira and Baptiste Roux Complete Medicals with Universitatea Craiova

Midfielder Joao Lameira, 27, the captain of Oțelul Galați, and 26-year-old central defender Baptiste Roux have successfully completed their medical examinations with Universitatea Craiova on Wednesday morning. The duo is expected to be officially presented to the team soon.
Negotiations for both players accelerated on Tuesday. They arrived in Craiova and underwent medical checks to ensure all is well before signing contracts with coach Filipe Coelho’s squad.
According to GSP.ro, the medicals went smoothly, and the players are expected to be unveiled in the coming hours. The club is eager to finalize the signings to include them in the squad for the Conference League.
Joao Lameira to Fill the Gap Left by Anzor
Lameira’s acquisition aims to address the void left by Georgian player Anzor, who departed for Chicago Fire in MLS earlier this week.
Oțelul Galați will receive €500,000 for Lameira’s transfer, assisting in alleviating some of their financial issues.
Despite having a year remaining on his contract with Oțelul, Lameira accepted Craiova’s proposal, reportedly earning around €20,000 per month.
Currently, Universitatea Craiova has several players in the central midfield position, including Tudor Băluță, Samuel Teles, Alexandru Cicâldău, and Alexandru Crețu.
Defensive Reinforcement: Baptiste Roux Also Completes Medicals
On the same day, Baptiste Roux underwent his medical examination and is anticipated to be presented at Craiova shortly.
Roux’s signing is intended to strengthen the defense, particularly after starting defender Adrian Rus sustained an injury and will be sidelined for an extended period.
The Frenchman is expected to sign a contract with the Romanian champions that will last until 2028. He last played for Backa Topola in Serbia and featured in two matches this season but has been absent from the last two fixtures. Roux has previous experience in France and Portugal as well.
