Both teams enter the new season with fresh coaching staff. Liverpool’s new manager, Andoni Iraola, takes over from Arne Slot after impressive performances at Bournemouth influenced the club’s decision-making.
Meanwhile, Newcastle has appointed Matthias Jaissle, a 38-year-old German coach, to replace Eddie Howe. Jaissle previously managed Liefering, Red Bull Salzburg, and Al-Ahli.

Transition for Both Teams
In addition to the coaching changes, both clubs have seen significant player departures this summer. Newcastle lost three key starters: Sandro Tonali, who was transferred to Tottenham for €108 million; Anthony Gordon, moving to Barcelona for €80 million; and Bruno Guimaraes, who went to Arsenal for another €108 million.
Captain Kieran Trippier has also left on a free transfer to Wolverhampton in the Championship.
On a positive note for Newcastle, they have recruited young talent aged between 18 and 24, including Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim, Amar Dedic from Benfica, Aladji Damba from Monaco, Lucas Hornicek from Braga, Sean Steur from Ajax, and Ewen Jaouen from Reims.
Liverpool, too, has experienced significant changes, losing several key players. Curtis Jones was sold to Inter for €30 million, while high-profile departures included Mohamed Salah to Trabzonspor, Ibrahima Konate to Real Madrid, and Andrew Robertson to Tottenham.
In response, Liverpool has strengthened their squad by signing Victor Munoz from Osasuna for €40 million and Jeremy Jacquet, a center-back acquired from Rennes for €63 million during the winter window. Roland Araujo has also joined on loan from Barcelona, alongside returning players Harvey Elliott and Konstantinos Tsimikas, who are back from their respective loan spells at Aston Villa and AS Roma.
