Helicopter Crash in Greece Claims Lives of Honeymooning Couple and Pilot

A tragic helicopter crash occurred on Sifnos island, Greece, shortly before its scheduled landing at 6:15 PM local time. The aircraft had taken off from Markopoulo, near Athens, and went down just a few meters from the runway, according to reports.
The Greek police confirmed the fatalities of the three individuals on board: honeymooners Alexander Cromie and Marie Ebert from Britain, and their pilot, a Greek national. The couple had chartered the private helicopter to reach the popular vacation destination.
Eyewitnesses described hearing a strange noise coming from the helicopter as it approached the landing site. Local residents witnessed the aircraft crash a short distance from their homes.
Manolis Foundoulakis, the vice-mayor of Sifnos, arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and reported to local news outlet Newsit that almost nothing remained of the helicopter. Two of the victims were located within the wreckage, while the third was found a short distance away.
Firefighters responded promptly to extinguish the blaze that ignited following the crash, and the fire was extinguished by Monday evening. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
