This victory marked PSG’s second consecutive Supercup title, following their win last year. During that match, they drew 2-2 with Tottenham and secured the trophy with a 4-3 victory in the penalty shootout.

Ilie Dumitrescu Reflects on Key Moments of PSG – Aston Villa Match
Dumitrescu noted that the match was evenly matched, and the difference was made by small details. He highlighted the critical moment of the game as Ousmane Dembele’s introduction at halftime, as he provided an excellent assist for Doue’s goal.
“This project of PSG has reached maturity. The entire strategy devised by Enrique, which involved moving on from star players, has resulted in players who are fully engaged in both defense and attack,” Dumitrescu remarked.
He praised the strong start from PSG, specifically mentioning the contributions of Hakimi and Mendes, along with Doue’s impressive mobility as a false nine. Kvaratskhelia showcased his top-tier skills by scoring the opening goal and demonstrating his class throughout the match.
Aston Villa managed to level the play at times and created several scoring opportunities, with McGinn being the standout performer for them. Dumitrescu emphasized how well McGinn adapted, playing excellently on the flank after being repositioned.
“After halftime, Aston Villa appeared to improve, but Dembele’s entry provided the decisive pass for Doue, which decided the match,” Dumitrescu concluded during the “European Football” show on Digi Sport.
