In early August, Inter Milan received a bid for Serbian midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic, 21, the son of club legend Dejan Stankovic.
In June, the Italian champions activated a clause to re-sign Stankovic, a defensive midfielder who had been developed in their academy and sold to Club Brugge in summer 2025.
His performances in Belgium persuaded Inter to pay €23 million to bring him back, having sold him for €9.5 million.
Brentford Makes €40 Million Offer for Stankovic
Less than two months later, Premier League club Brentford, who finished ninth last season, reportedly made a €40 million offer for Stankovic, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Despite potentially profiting from the deal, Inter chose to decline the offer. “Inter, the player, and his family all said ‘no, thank you,'” the publication noted.
Coach Cristi Chivu considers Stankovic an essential part of the squad, expected to serve as a key alternative to Hakan Calhanoglu and anticipated to receive significant playing time this season.
At just 21, Stankovic is already a senior Serbian international, with eight appearances and one goal for his national team. He has yet to debut for Inter’s first team, although he has been on the bench multiple times since 2023.
