Kremlin Signals Possible Mobilization as Peskov Calls Conflict a War

Kremlin Signals Possible Mobilization

Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the Kremlin, stated, “Recognizing that the regions currently held by Russia are de facto Russian regions will end the war the next day.” This remark indicates a notable shift in rhetoric regarding the ongoing conflict.

Andriy Kovalенко, head of the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, highlighted on July 11 that Peskov’s increasing use of the term “war” instead of the previously used “special military operation” suggests a conscious effort to prepare the Russian public for potential mobilization this fall. This shift may also be linked to impending restrictions, including a potential travel ban for Russian citizens.

Kovalенко advised Russians to consider leaving the country soon, citing that a Russian soldier can survive only 15 to 30 minutes on the front lines.
